V.M.C.A. LITERARY CLUB.
■ANNUAL MEETING. The V.M.C.A. Hierary and Debating Club held its annual meeting aud Social on Saturday •evening:. There vraa a very fair attendance present. The president (Mr F. L; Anderson) made a short resume of last season's work, incidentally mentioning that the call of Empire had depleted the club's ranks, but, notwithstanding, a very successful. year was passed. An outstanding feature was the inauguration of the Literary Club's competition, ■which wae won by the Y.ILC.A. Club, due to the co-operation of members, but more especially to tho work of Messrs Mason and PlimsoH. The ten minutes' prepared speeches were also a. decided success, and the membership campaign distinctly gratifying. The election of officers resulted ac follows:—Patron, Mr T. J. Koyde: president, Mr J.Caughley; vice-presidents, Dr. "Whetter, Messrs L. A. Birks, — Sykee, E. C. Brownell, G. A. Daweon, and F.L. Anderson: hon. secretary, Mr ■A. Bunterv hon. assistant secretary, Mr F. 'J. Hulston; hon. treasurer, Mr W. T. Connibe«r; reporter. Mr E. V. Panelli; committee, Messrs Geo: Mannintr, A. Cade. H. Staikic, H R. Plimsoll, — Holden. and IJ. Dobbe.
