RICCARTON.
The- Riccarton Borough Council met last night the Mayor (Mr J. Blown) being in the chair. The Councillors present were:—W. Helliwell W J £d™ls J. Dempster, G. D. White,' i '^ T : v «dtleU, and A. D.-Ford. llio financial statement for the fortnight ending.April I.9th showed:—Receipts £3o l s sd, expenditure £221 7s 6d., lhe district fund account showed a credit balance o f £128 10s 6d the S?'id ,j n accou , nt a credit balance of £7 18s Id, and tho No. 10 loan account a credit of £4558 9s 9d. .% **. W. Bishop drew the attention of the Council to a public danger that was said tp exist on Clarence road At a recent inquest evidence was given that tho portion of the road where it narrows abruptly ivas a danger spot Iho Council agreed with the Magistrate s remarks, and reference was made to the proposal to widen Clarence road, the Mayor remarking that Mr Bishop's remarks might have an influence on the ratepayers when the Joan poll came before them.
