■ ♦ Advice has been received by Defence Headquarters that Sergeant; Samuel Wilton Peed, of .the 2nd New Zealand Reinforcements, died in Egypt on March. 21st. of pneumonia. Sergeant Peed was with the Field Artillery. He wjis forty-one years of" age, and was born in Cambridge. England. His next-of-kin was his brother. Mr John Peed, a solicitor, in England.

Private cable advice has been received in Napier of tho death of Major Harold Williams (son of -Irs Nat Wil. Hams), who, as stated in our issue yesterday, was lying seriously, ill at Boulrgne, suffering from pneumonia. Death took place on Sunday, at the early age of thirty-seven years. Educated at the. Napier Boys' High School, Major Williams entered on a commercial career with Messrs Dalgety and Co., but he possessed the military spirit, and after doing splendid work for the local battery, he proceeded to South Africa with the 'J'hird Contingent, and became attached to the Dorsetshire Regiment. When tho present war broke out he was contemplating an extended visit to Germany to perfect himself in* languages, a branch of hi*professiou in which he had shown marked ability, but the great clash changed jail his plans, and after, a brief intimation that he was off to tho front, his relatives in Napier hear." nothing more until advised by cable message that he had been wounded at' Moris.
