(Received March Bth. 9, r>.m.) PETROGRAD. March S. An official communique says that tho Germans have been driven back behind the Sopockino-Lypsk front (north-west and west of Grodno). Tho Russians have also had further successes in tho Mlaw-a region, where live hundred Germans were captured.

A great battle is developing near tho Pilica, south of the Vistula.

Tho Austrians tried to cross to the right bank of the San,. south-west of Lutovisk. ; The unite which crossed were annihilated.

Potrograd reports that the Russian offensive continues on the left bank of tho Niemen. and north-west of Grodno. Tho Germans havo been driven back behind tho Sopockine-Lypsk front. In the Mlawa district Russian attacks wero crowned -with success, and six hundred prisoners were taken.

On .the left side of tho Vistula, in tho region of tho Pilica, lighting is assuming the character of a great battle.
