NAPIER, January 11. A Hie at midnight on Saturday gutted two shops in tho centre of tho city: One was occupied by Mr Risdale, as a fancy goods store, and tho otner as a soft drinks bar. The building was owned by Mr Jan Siiuson, and was purchased only last week from the New Zealand Ixjan and Mercantile Company. DUNEDIN. January 11. Insurances in connexion with Penrose's lire are :—Building £4000 Alliance. Fixtures and fittings, £1500 in Alliance. Royal and Queensland (£SOO each). Stock £24,000 divided between Alliance £1500, Northern £1500.
