WELLINGTON, January 11. The Hip;h Commissioner's market report, dated London, January 9th, is ne follows (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):—
Motion—A fair demand continues. The market is firm, notwithstanding largo receipts on account of delay in discharging, and on account of a difficulty in securing labour. Canterbury 5Jd p«r lb. North fcland 5 7-16 d, ewes 5 3-lCd.
Lamb—The market is steady, and fair business is doing. Canterbury' twos 6M, other than Canterbury 62<1. Very few lots of this season's lamb nro to hand, and are selling slowly at 7d. Beef—Tlinro is a iair demand for tho better grades, and a. limited demand for the poorer grades. Tho market is firmer on account of purchases for tho Government. New Zealand .hinds G o-16d, fores 5Jd. Chilled is in limited supply. Hinds are quoted at 7Jd, and foros at 53d.
Butter—The market is firm, with an upward tendency. There is a good demand, for colonial butters. Danish (quiet") 150s to 154s per cwt, Now Zealand 13Ss to 140s, Australian 131s to 138s. Siberian (firm ami in Rood demand) V26n' to 1325, Argentine 131s to 137e.
Cheese—Tbo market i s steady, and prices are well maintained. For Canadian, white and coloured, tho market is firm, but quiet, at 78s to 79s per cwt, and New Zealand, whito and coloured, is firm at 7Rs to 775. The estimated stocks of Canadian cheese on January Ist were 160,000 boxes, as against 223,000 at tho .same time last year. Xw Zealand cheese etocks on January Ist were 16,000 crates, as against 7000 at the same time last year.
Hemp—The market is rather more actire for Xciv Zealand on account of the small supply on hand. Spot New Zealand good fair crndo £26 10s per ton, fair grade £24 10s. fair current Manila_£27 10s, January-March shipment New Zealand good fair grade £25 10s, fair grade £23 10s, fair current Manila £28. Quotations nro nominal. The on+-"t from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales-
Wool—The market is firmer for crossbrerls, and unchanged for merinos. market is firm, with an improved demand.
Oats—The market is ouiet but firm., Seheelite—Messrs G. Blackwell. Sons and Co., Ltd., London, nuoted 26s to 27s per c-wt on January oth.
