AUCKLAND, January 10. Tho visiting- bowiers who have assembled in Auckland for tho Dominion Tournament were formally welcomed at the Hemuera green yesterday by Mr 11. Caeey, president of the" Dominion Council. After expressing the determination of the Aucklandjis to repay the hospitality extended to the Northerners when they were in the- South last year, Mr Casey said thai a. one time he was doubtful in regard to the wisdom -of amalgamating 1 tho Northern and Southern Associations, but, now he was convinced that it wua the correct thins. The handsome champion banner presented by the ladies of Dunedin was unfurled.
The tournament will commence nt 9 a.m. , to-morrow. In con&equcnce of tho lengthy I *poll of tine weather, the greens aro very keen.
