DISCLOSURE BY MR PIRANI.

(SPECIAT- TO "THE PBESS.") "WANGANUI, November 27. Mr Fred Pirani, a± tho Opera House last night, mentioned that an aspirant to Parliament, not many miles away, who had condemned monopolies and speculation in land, was himself a shareholder in three land companies. Of this, he added, ho possessed proof. The point went home, and Mr Pirani was evidently prepared to let it rest at that. The audienco. however, would not allow him to proceed, and persisted in calling upon him to produce the proof of his assertion, and give the name of the candidate ho had referred to. "Do you really want the name?" Mr Pirani 'asked, and in response to calls in tho affirmative, ho said, "Then you shall have it. Here it is." Mr Pirani, quoting from the "Mercantile Gazette," then read: "Otamakea Lands, Ltd.: W. A. Veitch, 500 shares; Komihi Fruit Land Development. Ltd., W. A. Veitch, 600 shares-, Pahi Fruit Lands, Ltd.. W. A. Veitch, 500 shares." As set out in each of these notifications, the object of the o-entlemen who havo subscribed their names as shareholders is to "purchase, lease, exchange, and deal in lands. The point was, of course, that though Mr Veitch professes on principle to denounce land speculation, he holds 1500 shares in companies promoted for the avowed purpose of land speculation.
