GERMAN STEAMERS CAPTURED.
PEKING, November 6. According to tho Calcutta "Englishman," the cruiser Cumberland captured eight Moermann liners and ono of the Hamburg-Bremen-Africa liners in the Cameroon River, West Africa. The abovo information •is very belated, as the captures referred to were effected more than a month ago. The London "Shipping Gazette" of October 2nd, states tliat the Press Bureau issued the following communication on the previous day :— The Secretary to the Admiralty announces that 11..M.5. Cumberland (Capt. Cyril Fuller) has captured the following merchant steamers off tho Cameroon River:— Max Brock. Renata Amsinck,' Paul "Woermann, Ern'a Woormann, Henrietto Woermann, Alino Woormann', Hans Woermann, Jeanetto Foermann, Arnfried. Total tonnage,. 30,915. Tlie vessels were in good order, most of them containing general outward and homeward ■ cargoes, and considerable quantities of coal. The European crews have been removed as prisoners. The native en-gine-room ratings have been retained. The gun-boat Soden was also icaptured, and has been commissioned. It is expected that the floating dock and tho_Hertzogin Elizabeth, which has been sunk, can bo*raised.
