THE VANCOUVER SERVICE.
PASSENGER TRAFFIC FALLING OFF. (ejPECIAI TO "THB PRESS.") AUCKLAND, November 3. Since the commencement of the war, the passenger traffic by tho CanadianAustralian mail steamers has fallen off considerably. Very few people have made the outward voynge by .the last two vessels of the line to leave Auckland. Tho decrease was more noticeable on tho arrival of the Makura from Sydney yesterday morning. The liner brought 152 first, eecond, and thirdclass passengers. Of this number, J. 33 in all "classes landed at Auckland, and only 19 are booked through to Vancouver. The number joining the ves--60l to-day from New Zealand is the smallest on. record, onJy ©no saloon, sir second saloon, and one steerage passenger having booked tip to the present. Although the Makura's passenger accommodation will be almost vacant, she trill bo a full ship as far as her cargo capacity is concerned. Sho has on board a large shipment of woof, hides, and skins from Sydney, but no frozen meat.
