ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.
The weekly stock sale was held ai tho Ashburton yards yesterday, when thero was only a moderate attendance. Tlio yarding was a very much smaller ono than , last week's at the Timvnld yards, there being 88G sheep as against 1281, tho shortage being both in fate and stores. Tho yarding included 216 fat. ewes, 63 fat wethers, 12 fat hoggets, and 595 store sheep. Butchers were alone operating for the fats, and consequently there was not a keen demand, and 68 of the total were passed by auction. With the rise in tho price of skins prices were again very firm, and woolly owes made an to 27s 6d, and shorn ewes to 20s 10d, shorn wethers to 20s. and woolly hoggete to 18s 9d. The following was the range of prices obtained:—Prime wooUy ewes, 23s Gd to 2os 3d; extra heavy, 27s 6d: others, 18s 6d to 22s 9d: shorn ewes, 19s to 20s IOd; others. 16s Id to 18s 6d: shorn tr'ethers, 18s 3d to 20s: shorn hoggets. 15s od: woolly hoggets, 18s 9d. The yardinc of store sheep included 207 hocgets. the balance being ewes and lambs. There was little demand, and 311 were passed by auction. There wras a better yarding of rattle than usual, and fat heifers made £8 10a to £8 15s, and fat cows £9 5s 'to £9 153; cows in fnll profit, £5 15s to £7 ss: «ow6, springing, £•* to £9 17s 6d; herf«rs, sorinring, £4 17s 6d to £5; small stnfes, 30s; larger sorts. £3 12s 6d to £5 10s; young Jersey bnll, 255.
