Official: German attacks in. tho region between Nieuport and Arras were mush less violent yesterday. Progress was made to tho north and east of Ypres, and between Cambrai and Arras. Tho Germans attempted a violent night attack on tho right bank of the Aisno in tho region of Crapnne, but wero repulsed. Tho advance in tho Wcovro district continues. LONDON, October 2S (8.00 p.m.) The Belgian Government states that the situation on the Yser has improved. Tho fire of the enemy's artillery has slackened, being subdued by the guns of the fleet.
