CASUALTIES.
WOMAN SEVERELY BURNED.
-Airs Emily BatcTmau, o[ 16 Durham street, Sydenham, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday morning in an unconncnous condition, suffering from severe burns about tho lower portion of the body. How the accidont happened is not known. Mrs Sarah Rowe, a neighbour, hearing .someone groaning, looked over into Mrs Bateman's yard, and saw her standing up against a tree with her clothes on fire. Mrs Rowe immediately obtained a bucket of water, and threw it over tho flames, and then ran across the road for assistance. Mr Thomas Atkinson obtained a wot sack, placed it round Mrs Bateman and carried her into the house. There tho burns were attended to by Mrs Sanderson, a nurec, and afterwards the sufferer was removed to tho Hospital.
Julia Dodd, aged 64 years, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at St. Luke's Vicarage. The deceased, who resided with her sister, Mrs Hawker. 15 Peterborough street, left home about 4.45 p.m. with jj, friend to attend a meeting at St. Luke's, but on the way complained of feeling faint. She was assist od to the vicarage and laid on a couch in the dining-room. Dr. Temple was .summoned, but the woman died jiKt. before ho arrived. An inquest will bo held at the morgue at lO o'clock this morning.
