Ay Mr Kain's house cc chimneys fell through the roof, carried away the kitchen ceiliivg, smashed a table, and went clean through the floor: Oates Bros , , store was damaged, also the doctor's new residence. AtPouriki, Mr Georgo Busby's station, a bricklayer had just finished rebuilding the chimneys, which were brought down by the last earthquake, and -was having a smoke preparatory to leaving the job, when the chimneys were again thrown down. It is reported that the Potururu hiTjtstead was split clenn in two. Chimneys came down in .all directions, and thcro wee innumerable landslides all alon<r the bills, great clouds of dust ffiving tl;o appearance of huge bushfires. .
