Tim alliance of New York and Liverpool shipowners ha.s subscribed the capital for a fleet of at least twenty big cargo steamers flying tho American flag in order to capture from Germany her carrying trade. The alliance is tho outcome of Herr Dernburg's criticisms that Great Britain intended to seize the South American trade without giving America a chance oi participating.
