FEDERAL ASSISTANCE

Mr Joseph Cook, in his policy speech at Parramatta, referring to the administration of Papua, said that iv addition to the provisions in aid of the revenue, it was proposed to make advance, to the local government for tho construction of railways, roads and bridge., reclamation works, harbour improvements, coastal lighting, and a more effective development of tho Government plantations. It was also proposed to make a grant towards the industrial training of the natives, and to establish wireless communication between Samarai and Woodlark Island, and to open up the oilfields.
