A POPULAR BANE MANAGER.
DEPARTURE OF MR F. E. BRYANT.
There was a full . gathering of the members of tho staff of the Union Bank of Australia yesterday evening to bid farewell to the manager, Mr F. E. Bryant, who has been transferred to the management of the Sydney branch. Eulogistic references to Mr Bryant and testimony to his popularity wero made by Mr C. E. Matthews, acting-manager, Mr W. Boadel, and others. Mr Matthews presented Mr Bryant with a handsome parting gift, which Included the framed portraits of every member of tho local staff.
There was a largo gathering at tht> railway station last night, when Mi Bryant left for Sydney. .Tho whole of the staff of. the Union Bank, tho managers of the other banks in Christ church, and several prominent citizens wero present. As tho train left, tbreo cheers were given for Mr Bryant. Mr Ogilvie, manager of the Union Bank at Hobart, who has been appointed to succeed Mr Bryant, will arnvo in Christchurch in about a fortnight's timo. In the meantime, Mx C. E. Matthews is acting-manager.
