WAIKART.
R. Crump, employed by tho Waipara County Council, was injured on Wednesday through the falling of a small derrick. It is supposed that the wind blew it over, and that it struck Crump on tbo head. He was taken to the Hawarden Private Nursing" Homo, suffering from concussion of the brain. His Worship tiie Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. Holland* has kindly consented to address a public meeting- at Waikari on Wedner-flny, the 22nd inst. at 2.30 p.m.. on behalf of the Open-air Homes for Children Fund. The meeting is being held under the auspices of the Waipara County Council, whose practical help and sympathy in the movement is much appreciated by the residents. At a meeting of resident'; of Waikari on Friday night, it w.-,*** decided to hold the annual ball on Wednesday, August oth. Mr A. Muellar and Miss Young were appointed joint secretaries.
