AN EXCHANGE OF SHOTS.

Earjy this morning the watchman heard someone moving about inside bujldihg. Ho fastened the door and wept to obtain assistance, but had only proceeded a few yards when a. man,, who was evidently watching his movements, fired a revolver. The bullet passed through the watchman's cfloek and struck a second mijn standing on tho footpath, knocking out three of his teeth. / The watchman fired three shots at his assailant, who succeeded, jn escaping. Meanwhile thp safe-breaker locked inside the building, becoming alarmed at the firing, broke a fanlight and reached the back of the building, where he descended a fire-escape and got away. Explosives wero found in the keyhole of the safe.
