ELLESMERE.

Tho monthly meeting of tho EHeeraore Lands Drainage Board was held at Tai Tapu, all the members being present. A letier was received from Mr C. F. Hansen, complaining of the action of tho Springs County Council in cleaning Murray's drain for a few chains into tho reserve leased from the Board by him, and then allowing the water to spread whero it could. It was resolved to request the Council to make pr*>vision for draining the water into the Talswell river. With referenco'to a. report in "The Press 5 ' on May 23rd, wherein comp'aint was made of the dangerous height of Lake Ellesroare, it was painted out j that the gauge had only reached 2ft llin on tho occasion, and was consider- I ably lower clia-n tho average height when j lot out on previous occasions. It was resolved that tho clerk prepare a ro- N port on the culvert, with a view to making provision, for strengthening the structure with braces.
