Eight from tho commencement the Merivalo forwards took charge of the game, and tho Marists' backs had a torrid iimo in repelling- the Blues' vanguard. Atkinson, Fuller, and Cleary by, some good combined work, confined play to the Marists' twerty-fivo. ard Fuller scored a try after badly beating the Greens' b-'eks. Hasoll converted. Merivalo 5, Marists nil. The Blue backs were soon in action again and Cade went over at the corner. Hasell failed to convert. Merivalo 8, Marists nil. A forward rush gave Caroegio a chance and he added another three points but Hasell failed to improve. Morivalo 11, Marists nil. From tin's on to half-time the Greens mado spasmodic efforts, but failed to 6core. •
Marists started off well in the second half and O'Malley, who was playing well, wont dovfti tho field several times, but in each caso he was poorly supported. Carnegie and Maxwell headed a forward rush to the Greens' territory, and for a long time play hovered on the Mariets' line. A passing rush between Fuller, Cade, Atkinson, and Reid gave Cade a chance, but. ho was tackled on the corner by Fanning. A few moments later Hasell had a shot from a penalty but the ball fell short. Up to the call of time Merivalo attacked continuously, but no further scoro was registered. Mr R. W. Brittain was referee.
