(Before Messrs W. Barrett, J.P., and C. P. Agar, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders for drunkenness were each fined ss, in default twentyfour hours' imprisonment. John Atkinson was convicted and | ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge, of drunkenness, the understanding Being that- ho left C-bristchurch immediately tor employment that was open to him in the country. George Coppin and Charles Mack. both second offenders, were each fined 10s, in default- fort.y-eigiit hours' im-nri-onment. BROWN v. IRELAND. Joseph Brown and Walter Graham Ireland were jointly charged that, on the 4th inst., they behaved in a manner whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned. Ireland pleaded not guilty, and said Brown had interfered with'him, striking him three or four times bclore ho had pushed him over. Brown .said he was to blame in the matter. He had interfered with Ireland, and wanted to go to tea. with him. We (Brown) had some drinks, and was not too (sober. Brown was fined 20s, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, and the case against Ireland was dismissed. BROKEN BY-LaWS. Alfred John Watts, Everett Chappeii, Llcwliyn 1/avies, anu Edgar Goff were each fined 10s and costs lor cycling on tne footpath. Leslie Cnudley, lor a similar oilenee, was lined os aud costs, and Jobu Jamesou was fined -*0s and
costs. Leslie Beaumont (Mr Lyons) was charged with ruling a motor-c./cie without a light, and also witn nuing in a negligent manner. It was stated that a collision occurred between the defendant and Reynold J. Roberts, a cyclist, who, on his own admission, had no light. Beaumont was lined 20s and costs for riding witnout a lignt, and 4us and costs lor riding in a negligent manner. Roberts, who was aiso cnarged with riding witnout a light, was fined 10s and costs. Allen Cochrane, for driving a cart without lignts. was convicted and ordered to pay costs. James liiggs, for leaving a horse and cart unattended for a longer period than five minutes, and for not locking the wheel, was fined 5s on each charge. John Loudon, E. H. James, Arthur F. Collins, and Walter Nicholls wero each fined 5s and costs for. driving motor-cars without tail lights. I Edward Bates, for driving a motor vehicle without a taxi-meter, speedometer, or clock, was fined os and costs. W. B, Clarkson, for leaving a motor vehiclo so as to cause obstruction, was convicted and ordered to pay costs. Robert Lightbody, on a charge of driving a motor-car over a crossing at an excessive speed, was fined 10s and costs. William Charles Sanders, on a similar charge, was fined 10s and costs. William Forsyth (Mr Cuningham), charged with leaving a horse and cart unattended for a longer period than five minutes, was convicted and ordered to pay the costs. Edward William Low and Joseph Warring were each fined 10s and costs for cycling without lights.
