A PRIME SAMPLE.
(SPECXA- TO "THE -BESS.") Wl-I-LINGTON, Juno 2. Another most amusing instance of the manner in which th© anti-Reform journals aro endeavouring to discredit tho Massey Government has been exposed by tho Hastings "Tribune." Tho Napier "Telegraph," which is under the same management as the "New Zealand Times," has mado the extraordinary discovery that at the oloso of tho last financial year there was no surplus, but a deficit of £34,508! The amusing and amazing thing about tho "Telegraph's" oxpert is that ho has included as ordinary expenditure the balance of £420,905 to credit at the end of tbe year, and that is how ho gets the deficit.
