Great interest is being taken in Lyttelton regarding the forthcoming election of officers for the ensuing twelve months of the Lyttelton Wharf , Labourers' Industrial Union of Work- I ers I The secretary, Mr R. M. Stewart, has received the following nominations, the i original Arbitrationists and the old unionists being shown in parentheses):— j President, Messrs W. Wright (new), J. i Flood, J. Reed, and J. Wilson (old); | vice-presiden*s. Mossrs W. Biake (new), ' J. Garner, and J. Goodman (old); sec-j rotary, Messrs R. M. Stewart (new), ! and W. Agar (old); trustees, Messrs W. j Blake and W. Wright (new); executive, ' Messrs C F. Ronald. J. Trifford, H. ; Clark, J. Hannagin. H. Shepherd, and . O. lies (new), E. F. Langley, T. Lewis, J. Browne, W. McDonnell, and J. Jones (old). Mr W. Agar, who is standing for the position of secretary against Mr R. M. Stewart, is president of the Union, and ! was at one time secretary of the old body. Voting will bo by plebiscite, the members voting on June 23rd, 24th, and 25th, and placing their papers in th* ballot-box. The resnlfc of the election will be announced at the annual meeting, to be held on June 25th. It is understood that tho ex-strikers will make a strong attempt to win tho principal offices, and as tbey outnumber tho original Arbitrationists by a majority of more than two te one, the result should prove interesting.
