WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.
The monthly meeting: of the Waimakariri Harbour Board was held Lust evening, Mr J. W. Barnard (Mayor of Kaiapoi)presiding in the absence, through illness, of the chairman., TJiere were K. Mclntceh, J. Wright, C. Edmonds, J. Marsden, and C. Keetley. The harbourmaster*- report stated that there was an averago depth of 6ft 6ih on the bar. Altsbougb tthere had been two freshes they had not improved the rivers, and ths steamers had not entered during the month. The Minister of Marine wrote, calling attention to technical corrections rotjuired in tho by-laws, which it was decided should be attendted to. The report of the "Works Committee recommendine* the clearing away of willows from tho rVim at the Mafe-
'■•'«- bridge and' on certain private properties, was adopted, the work to be carried out. The receipts were £24 10----2 d. The credit balance was £106 Is 6d Aeconnts wero passed for payment. £39 17s 9d. It was docirled that a committee, consist!nor of Messrs Mcintosh and Wrwtht and ihe chairman should prepare a statement to be submitted to the Minister in connexion with improvements to the river and that the recently-formed league bo asked to cooperate with them.
