In the Trinity Congregational schoolroom la3t night, a jubilee concert, in connexion with the Sunday School, was held, and was' very largely attended. Tho programme, which was a bright and varied one, included a number of action songs given by the Linwood scholars, tho Trinity and the Tennyson street scholars. These items were admirably rendered and brought forth very hearty applause. Miss Gytha Owen gave a pretty dance in connexion with one of the action songs. The chorus with which the programme concluded, "The Animals' Japanese, Band," was also excellent. . Other items were: —Vocal duct* by the Misses Craig, and Misies Moyra Johnson and Gytha Owen; songs by Miss Elsie Field and Master AJtieon; and recitations by Mies Olwin Owen and Miss Muriel Brewins. The vocalists accompaniments were played by Miss Gwen Owen and Miss Eva Boot, A.T.0.L., and thd concert was under the joint management of Miss Stone and Mrs A. M. Owen. A meeting of the Provi3ional Committee of the Progressive Liberal and Labour Association was held on Monday evening, fifteen members being present. The plan ot organisation was discussed at considerable length. A sub-committee was appointed to draft a manifesto. Another sub-committee was appointed to draw up the form of membership cards. Tho treasurer reported a baiaiico in hand of £3 6s.
Tho second annual meeting of the Junior Philatelic Society of New Zealand was hold on Monday. The retiring president, Mr L. E. Vernazoni, presided. The report showed a very satisfactory state of affairs, tho total membership being fifty-one. Tho finances were in a satisfactory position, there being a credit balance of £1 10s sd. The president, in reviewing tho woik of the pa«t year, said that the reports reflected great credit on the honorary secretary and the exchange superintendent. The Society was now in a very sound condition, and he anticipated that the ensuing year would be a very prosperous one for it. Several additions wero made to tho rules of the Society, as recommended by the committee. The rules of Hie exchange branch were referred to tho committee for further revision. Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr W. J. Wileon; vice-presidents, Messrs P. Carmichael and ""V. C. Low; honorary secretary, Mr K. K. Watts; honorary librarian, Mr C. M. Moody: honorary treafurer and exchange superintendent, Mr R. S. Higgins; committee. Mcssts L. W. Mablv. E. Marshall, W. Speddine, and G. M. Wilson; fin-nee committee, Messrs R. S. Hisrsrins, P. Carmichaol, C. M. Moody, L. Mably, W. J. Wilson, and K. K. Watts; social committee, Messrs W. C. Low, R. S. Higgins, E. Crook, (i. M. Wileon, W. J. Wilson, and K. K. Watts; competitions committee, Messrs P. Carmichael. E. Marshall, L. M "Vutt W Socddin,. W. J. Wilson, and K. K. Watt*! The retiring president. Mr L. E. Vernazoni, who is leaving shortly for Sydney. was elected an honorary life ree-nbex. The now president. Mr W. J. Wilson, and several other members referred to the pood work Mt Vernazoni bad done Tor the Society, and wisW him every success in his new" sphere of life.
