HAWKERS IN THE CITY.
AREA OF OPERATIONS DEFINED
The By-laws Committee submitted the following recommendation at the meeting of the City Council last night, with reference to the area within which hawkers be prohibited from plying their trade: — '"Commencing at the north-east corner of Armagh street at its intersection with Manchester street; thence southerly along tho east side of Manchester street to the south side of Lichfield street; thenco along tho south side of Lichfield street to a point 500 links west of the west side of Colombo street: thence northerly to a point on the south side of Cashel street, 500 links west of Colombo street; thence westerly along the south side of Cashel street to the enst side of Durham street; thence northerly along tho east side of Oxford terrace to the south side of Hereford street; thence easterly along the south side of Hereford street to a point 500 links west of tho west side of Colombo street; thenco northerly to a point on the north side of Gloucester street, 500 links west of the west side of Colombo street; thenco easterly along the north side of Gloucester street to the west side of Colombo street; thenco northerly along tno west side of Colombo street to a point in lino with the north side of Armagh street: thence easterly along the north side of Armagh street to the commencing point." Tho report was adopted.
