ROSS GOLDFIELDS, LTD. {PRESS ASSOCIATION* T_*L__-R-U__.) WELLINGTON. March 16. The Ross Goldfields Mine Superintendent reports for the week ended 12th inst.:—Sixth level. No. 2 shoot, Xo. 5 south, has been driven 64 feet. Prospects averaged 1.2 grains to the dish, equal to [Cgrs per truck. No. 2 cast drive has been opened off No. 5 south, 46 feet south of No. 1 east, and driven 12 feet, in wash equal _n quality to that in No. 5. When the wash in these two drives is

blocked, and with an increased staff, the returns should be considerably increased. Blocking is proceeding east and west off Xo. 2 south-east face, the wash being of payable quality. The west face of a slightly lower value. One party is blocking east off Xo. 4 south in wash averaging about one grain per dish. The prospecting shaft is down 75 fe?t in terrace bottom. Only colour has been obtained. (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) HOKITIXA, March IG. A ramour gained currency to-day that good ground had been met with in the Ross Goidfields mine. The superintendent (Mr J. Cock! confirmed the news, and elated that excellent wash had been located in the Xo. 5 south drive for a distance of 64 feet, and showing still further improvement. Mr Cock states that with careful prospecting the we«h will yield 6s per truck. He is now arran for additional men ior the mine, and when the full complement is engaged, he expects highly profitable returns. The win_e is now down a depth of 75 feet in terrace bottom, and the indications are eucli that he anticipates meeting with a further payable layer of wash at any time. He states that there Aril! bo no difficulty in coping with the water when the deep ground is being worked. THE BLENHEIM WELL. (SPXCIAI. TO "TTIK PRESS.") NEW PLYMOUTH, March 16. After the Blenheim well had been pushed some distance past the level at which oil was originally struck and lost through an inrush of water, a new oil level wsus encountered about a fortnight ago. After ono or two outbursts the well remained quiescent for about nine days, till or. Thursday last it recommenced its flow, and on Friday it is understood that the production exceeded, eighty barrels, arid a satisfactory flow h_s since continued.
