MEETINGS AND SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

A meeting of the United Pigeon Fanciers' Club was held on Thursday, Mr A. Smith (president) presiding. The business of the evening was the first of the Club's shows, tho varieties adjudicated upon being Long__ced, Clean-legged, and Muffed Tumblers. Tb« following were the awards: —Cleanlegged Yellow—T. H. Jones 1 and 2, Jlacquarie and Smith 3. Red—Macquarie and Smith 1, T. B. Jones 2 and 3. Black—Macquarie and Smith 1. T. 11. Jones 0. H. Wiltshire 3. Mulled, Black—n. Wiltshire 1, 2 and 3. Blue or Silver—T. If. Jones 1, 2 and 3. Any Other Colour—H. Wiltshire 1 and 2, T. H. Jones 3. The Club's specials for Clean-lceg-d and Muffed were awarded to Mosare Macquarie and Smith and T. 11. Jones respectively. The judges for the evening were Messrs W. H. Dacombe and A. Gapes, and they wero accorded a vote of thanks. It was decided to arrange for further showa at the next Club meeting. The annual general meeting of the ChristchuTch Methodist Choir Union wae held in the Durham street Schoohoom on Saturday, when there was a good attendance of members. The reports of tho treasurer nnd secretary wero received and adopted. Tho Union was shown to be in a very good financial position, and, according to all appearances, firmly established, the member-hiD now being 295. Tho officers elected for the ensuing year were:—President, Rev. S. Lawry; vicepresidents, Messrs H. Holland, G. Scott, and J. C. Prudhoe; conductor. Mr E. Firth, F.R.C.0.; organist, Miss E. S. Smith; secretary, Mr "W. J. Spratt; assistant eecretary, Mr Younger: treasurer, Mr H. J. Down; librarian, Mr VV. J. Salkcld; auditor, Mr A. M. Owen; committee, Messrs V. Simpson, G. Dnltry, A. M. Owen, J. H. Jones, V. Peters, C. Ray, J. Salkeld, and Longuet. During the evening feeling reference w«s made to the death of Mt G. Collins, late treasurer of the Union, and a motion of deep sympathy with Mrs Collins and family wa« carried.
