COUNTY COUNCILS.
RANGIORA,
The Rangiora County Council met yesterday. Present: Messrs F. Horrell (chairman), "VV. H. . Stokes, W. Stalker, .H. Garrett, It. W. Campion, H. Dallott and A. Mcintosh. Mr J. Petrie requested that landowners along Taranaki Creek bo asked to clear it. Agreed to. The District Health Officer reported that two cottages condemned in Kaiapoi had been removed to the Maori reserve contrary to the Act. Mr W. McQuillan wroto saying he Jsvould make the cottages habitable. It was decided that this taust be done to the satisfaction of the Health Officer. The Valuation Department asked the Council to appoint an assessor, and Mr J. Stevenson consented to act. The account of £71 7s for valuation of the Rangiora riding was comsidered excessive, and it was decided to communicate urith the ValuerGeneral. Messrs Johnston and Mills sent an opinion on drainage. It was decided to invite tenders for the construction of several drains. It was decided to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands regarding the disposal of reserves in the Cust and Eyro ridings. The Council decided that informations be laid against all persons grazing cattle upon roads, and to sue for all unpaid rates. The Public Trustee was appointed sinking fund commissioner for the traction engine and plant loan. It was decided to put a concrete top on a culvert in Townend's road. A Cust ratepayer was to be notified to clear gorse, or proceedings against him /would be taken. A deputation comprising Messrs Stevenson, Blacmore, Ferguson. Kelly and Carpenter asked that •the double arch culvert on Boys' road be extended, and agreed to pay onethird the cost. Agreed to.
