GARDEN PARTY AT BELFAST
The Belfast Presbyterian Church, being in debt over its Sunday school to the extent of £35. a garden party was held in the grounds behind the church, on Thursday, for the purpose of wiping the debt off, with such success that the gross takings, amounted to £53.
There was a gathering, both of residents and visitors from Papanui and Marshland. The school-room at the church was utilised for the dispensing of refreshments. A motor-car was procured for hire, and under the guidance of Mr William Roger, junr., it proved a great success. Following wereHbe stalls and stall-holders:— Sweets Stall: Misses Dunlop (2), and Miller. Plain Work Stall: Mesdames Rogers and Guthrie. . Fancy Goods Store: Misses Guthrie, Carter (2), and Smith. Ice Cream: Mrs and Miss Glassey. Flower Stall: Misses Doak and MilProduce Stall: Messrs J. Dunlop, R. Guthrie, and R. Doak. Fish and Bran Tub: Mesdames Anderson and Glassey.
