LONDON, March 3

In the House of Commons, Mr Acland, in reply to Sir O- KlnlocECooko. said he was not aware that toe Commonwealth was prepared to entertain a suggestion to acquire the French rights in the New Hebrides by purchase or exchange. The British Government did not intend to purchase the islands or agree to surrender territory elsewhere in exchange.

In the House of Commons, Mr Harconrt, in reply to a question, said the Governments of the Commonwealth and New Zealand would be consulted before any new arrangement regarding the control of the New Hebrides was made-
