The Porte is disappointed with the Powers' .'Egean Note. It hoped for .ii eleventh-hour modification, but will flow probably endeavour to reach a -irect understanding with Greece.

CONSTANTINOPLE, February 16.
The Port.*?- feply to the Powers regarding the iEgean island, regretthat the Powers have given inadequate consideration to the Empire's vital need in connexion with the islands adjacent to the Dardanelles, and regrets the Powers' failure to devise a ' solution which might have avoided all serious •rifficulties. The Porte will seek realisa:ion of its just- and legitimate demands.
