Cr. Williams proposed an amendment that the matter bo referred to the Works Committee for consideration and report.

Tlio amendment was adopted. Pursuant to notice, Cr. Ivoasbv moved: —"That a poll bo taken on the. - date of tho Mayoral election for the"' purpose of raising a loan to widen - Sia.nn.ore road, this lain to be voted - for separately from any other issu. to be placed before the ratepayers." Cr. Sorensen proposed an amendment recommending tho Finar,cy> Committee to place £-2000 on tho estimate? for the purpose of carrying out a por- ; tion of the work of widening where J mo>t needed. Cr. Mc-Comhs seconded tho amoiidment.

Tho amendment was lost. Cr. Hunter proposed another amendment, that the matter of road widen-* ing should be held over nntil the estP mates wero being considered. .',..,"' The amendment was carried. " , Cr. Sorensen then gave notice of motion:—"That in each ward where; road widening is required, that particular ward should pay tho cost of same."
