ARMY MEAT CONTRACTS
QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE
(By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, February 13.
Mr Harold Baker, Secretary to the War Office, in reply to Mr Rowland Hunt, said that an alteration had been made in the specification for the supply of meat to the Army, fixing the minimum weight of Australian forequarters at 1101b, because ifc had been found that the restrictions in regard to the removal of the flanks and brisket involved a larger reduction in weight than expected; further, that 7441b of meat supplied by T. Borthwick and Co., Ltd., on October 4th, and 3061b on November 30th, had been rejected as unfit for food on arrival, due to the shipments having been delayed in transit.
Mr Hunt asked whether Borthwick and Co. had been invited to again lender.
Mr Baker replied that tender forms had been issued to a large number of firms, including Borthwick and Co.
