At the Conciliation Commissioner's room this morning half a dozen nssWora j sat in friendly council and made an amicable agreement for the regulation of the working conditions of slaughtermen. The question ot wages-was very promptly settled, increases of 2s 6d per hundred being granted for freezing sheep and lambs, and of '2s per hundred for potters' lambs. The former rate now rules at £1 7s 6d per hundred. There was no dispute as to working hours or overtime (the latter being assessed' at time and a quarter), proposals and counter-proposals being identical in this respect. Hours of work willbe between 7 a.m. .and 5 p.m., eight hours a day, with Saturday a half-holi-day from midday. Other' slaughtering than that at the specified rate per hundred will, bo paid for per head. A mutually satisfactory preference clause %va3 agreed upon, and it was further agreed that all disputes should be referred to a , conference of three delegates from each - side.
