NEW BRIGHTON.
A meeting of the New BrigLton Borough Council was held on Monday. The Mayor (Mr C. H. Winny) presided, and there wero present—Crs. J. Ainger, F. Kibbiewhite, O. Bergh, A. W. Owles, C. Isradson, J. Ashley, A. Chidgey. Cr. Ashley was appointed a delegate to the conference of local authorities regarding electrical supply. Th© Finance Committee reported for fortnight ending December 19th: —Receipts: District Fund Account, £72; expenditure, £40; other accounts £76; accounts passed last meeting, £747; overdraft, £823; deposits, £1665.— Adopted. Tho Reserves Committee reported regarding Mr Bodger's application to rent the old riverbed reserve along Richmond terrace, that the reserve should not be let at the sum offered, ,and that at least a part of the reserve should be held by the Council for the purpose of graaing its horses. —Approved. The By-laws Committee recommended thai a letter be forwarded to Mr Thompson, skiting that the Council have no intention of taking over or purchasing the strip of .land in question, neither can they allow any buildings to' bo erected fronting on tho right-of-way, and referring applicant to the Building By-laws and Municipal Corporations Act. —Approved.
