SIR RICHARD SOLOMON. (By C*blt.—P«es Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, November 10. The death is announced ot' ftir Richard Solomon, High Commi£sioner for South Africa, alter a grave operation. Sir 'Richard Solomon had been High Commissioner for South Africa since 1910. Hβ was born at Cape Town on October lath, lttGO, and was educated at the South African College, Capo Town, and at St. i'eter's College, Cambridge. Ho was called to the Bar, Inner Temple, in 1879, was legal adviser to Lord ltosmead on nis mission to Mauritius, 1886, to enquire into the affairs of that island, member of Native Law Commission; chairman of Mining Commission; member of Houise of Assembly, Cape Colony,* for the division of Tembuland; AttorneyGeneral of the Schreiner Ministry, 189*-1900; legal advisor to the Transvaal Administration and to Lord Kitchener, 1901 and 1902; AttorneyGeneral of the Transvaal 1902-7; Acting Lieutenant-Governor of the Transvaal 1905--6; member of the Executive and Legislative Councils of tho Transvaal; represented South Africa at tho Delhi Durbar, 1911; and was Agent-General in London for the Tfansvaal, 1907-10.
