Maclootl.cmith's accompaniments maintained their well-known merits.
NATIONAL C 0N T CEET.
Thft national concert given in tho King's Theatre last night by Mr Robert Millen. assisted by several local vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers, was very successful. Thoro was a attendance, and tho programme, which was a varied one, was thoroughly enjoyed. Mr Millen is a singer of much versatility, and was successful in both serious and humorous songs. Ho gave "Tho March of the Cameron Mon" with much vigour and effect, and responded to a recall with "The Wee, Wee German Lairdie." Hα Mas equally good in his humorous songs, which included "Geordic's Weddin' Day" and "Mister John McKay." Mrs R. McDonald was good in her Scottish songs, and her singing of' "Caller Herrin," in costume, vr&s much appreciated. Lucy Ccwan gave several sketches, and caused much morriment by her narration of "A Scottish Courtship." Mr A. L. Cropp wns very successful in his rendition of "The Ringers." and the Christchurcb Ounrtet Party (Messrs W. G. Cookson. R. D. Vincent, G. March and A. Millar) were excellent in tbo glees that they gavo. Mr A. C. Nottingham cave a selection on tho 'cello with excellent effect. A Hiehlp.nd fling was danced artistically by Mr It. Currio. The Caledonian Society's Pipe Band plnycd selections. Miss Bessy McDonairl plnyp.d the accompaniments to several of tho vocalists aeceotablv.
GLOBE THEATRE
The now programmo presented afe tho Globe Theatre yesterday contains many attractive films, two being' of outstanding merit. In "A Prisoner of War," a star drama, tho subject centres about n Bulgarian girl who has been captured by tho Turks, and has become an unwilling inmate of aPasha's palace. The scenes in which her adventures are developed are among tho most vivid and exciting ever thrown on tho screen. The second star picture, a brilliant newspaper comedy, is entitled 'The Toyvillo Eye." To-day tho- samo set of pictures will be screened continuously from noon till 10.30 p.m.
QUEEN'S THEATRE.
The Queen's Theatre received another big patronage yesterday, the films shown proving most popular. To-dny a change of programme will bo made. The new pictures, which will bo shown continuously from 11 a.m. till 11 p.m., compriso:—"St. Cloud to Morez" (scenic), "The Boomerang" (drama), "Bloomer and His Cousins" (comic), "At tho End of tho Line" (drama), "A Bull Fight" (spectacular), "Her Heart's Desire" (drama), and "Kitty's Little Love Affair" (comic).
OPERA HOUSE
There was a largo and enthusiastic audienco present at the Onera House last night, and -the high-ciass vauclovillo programme Mas greatly enjoyed. Airlie and Campbell in their overture to "William Tell" wero enthusiastically received, and Carl Merlyn in his burlesque conjuring act kept the audienco in roars of laughter. Other favourite artistes included Louie Duggnn, Frank Hawthorne and Company, elavin and Thompson, the Lcssos, and tho Clardys. To-night- the programme will be"*Teneated.
SYDENHAM PICTURES
At the change of programme at Sydenham last night, a sood attendance accorded much applause each picture screened. The two star items, "Escape of the White Glovo Gang" and "Britains Hope," -were each accorded well-merited recognition. A display by a iroupo of acrobats was much enjoyed. Other films were "Two Women and a Man," "Faithful Dumb Friends." "Casey at the Bat," "Fencing Mnd." and "Persistency v. Obstinacy.'' This list -will be screened again to-night.
WEST-HAYWARD PICTURES.
There was again a crowded house at His Majesty's Theatre last night, whf>n the Wcst-Hayward Picture programme was repeated. Notable fihns were the views of the St. Gotbard Pass and the comedy ''Bunny at the Derby.'
FULLEPv'S PICTURES
Fuller's Pictures attracted another large crowd of patrons to the Colosseum last night. The various films, particularly the enthralling deteeth'e drama "Tigris," made up an excellent programme- which gave unbounded enjoyment. To-night the samo pictures will bo shown.
OLTMTIA RINK
Holler skating sems to be gaining in popular favour daily. Yesterday all sessions at the Olympia Rink were crowded. In the evening a handball match vras played. To-day the rink will be open from 10 to 12. 3 to 5, 5.30 to 7, and r.30 to 10 p.m.

The public of Christdmrcb. will have an opportunity on Monday evening next oFjudgiug of the variety of talent which is to be found in such a We ship's company m that of H.JI.S. Beaman Blsckincre. ; 'tho Hand-cufF Kinjc," besides a numbor of htimorous songs and recitations.

The season oi th<t Dandies, which is to oncn at th<- Theatre lloyal on Wednesday next, will give thu Chiistchurch pt>oph) an opportunity oi hearing this entertaining company which has achieved so marked .". success in Australia and in other parts of New Zealand.
