FEDERATION ASKS FOR A CONFERENCE.
(rSESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) TIMARU, May 15. The port was quiet to-day. Mr P. C. Webb, of the Federation of Labour, camo from Chirstchurcii to-day to interview some heads of houses concerned in the shipping trade, and asked for a conference regarding tho watersido workers' strike. No arrangement having been made by the Citizens' Committee for such a contingency, those spoken to as individuals had no authority to promise a conference.
