WOOLSTON.

The installation of Mr J. J. Graham as Mayor of Woolston took place lastf evening. In addition to the members of the*now Council, there were present several ratepayers.

Mr J. McGregor Wriglrf, the retiring Mayor, after expressing his pleasure at being prosent. referred to the keen interest taken in borough affairs by Mr Graham. Tho new Mayor, he said, had tho interests of the borough at heart, and during his three years' service as Councillor there had" been many instances of this ■ fact. The incoming Councillors had also done loyal service to tho borough. He wished to place on record his appreciation of the loyalty and good servico-of tho former Councillors. Ho "asked for the same measuro of support to the Mayor and staff by the incoming Council, and if that were accorded he had no doubt that tho success of tho borough would bo assured. During his term, the "Vvoolston Park had been opened, and he was euro tho new Council would Bee that that important work would be quickly completed. The library had been opened, and a Beautifying Association bad been formed. Mr Graham then took the chair, and referred to the good work achieved by his predecessor. His own tuition in municipal matters had - been at the hands of Mr McGregor Wright, and although they differed on several matters, lie had always found him a perfect gentleman. He trusted that ho would have as good a record at tho end of twelve months as Mr McGregor Wright. Tho formal declaration was signed by' Mr Graham, and by the new Council j which consists of Messrs M. Dalziel, J. B. Richardson, L., Hardic ; M. L. Gimblett, L. M. G. riWt. T. S. Kadcliffe, W. Maclaine, F. Newton, and G. E. Lilley. Tho various committees were also set up.
