LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS

At yesterday's meeting of tho Lyttelton Harbour Board the chairman <Mr R. Moore) stated that he intended to invite members of tho Board and tho officers of H.M.S. New Zealand to be his guests at Kaiapoi on May 19th, the party to bo conveyed there in motor cars. Mr Moore said it would be purely a function for tho members of tlio Board and officers of tho New Zealand.

Reporting to tho Board, the engineer (Mr Cyrus Williams) stated that a barrier was being erected down tho centre of No. 3 jetty at Lyttelton to assist in managing itho crowds of people who would be visiting the warship. A letter was received by tho Board from Mr J. M. B. Crawford, act-ing-director of tho Sumner i>ear and l>umb Institute, asking tor the use of the Board's tug to couvcy thirty pupils to the warship New Zealand. The request was granted, tlio Secretary stating that no difficulty would bo experienced. Tho Engineer reported that tho tug would meet tho New Zealand at tho Heads. It was decided to admit no ono on the tug except officials. It was , also decided that tho members of the Board meet the New Zealand on the Canterbury, and that no one else be allowed on tho Canterbury unless they possessed a fcket. Tho Secretary (Mr Cyrus Williams) reported that 830 tickets were being printed. The isstio of tho tickets was left in the hands of the 'secretary.
