HOCKEY.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Association 'Executive was held on Monday. Present —Messrs E. Hulbcrt (chairman), W. E. Rogers, C Bowden, T. Booth, R. H. Henley, D. Snell, W. Chappell, Wi H. .uown, and "W. W. P.tcaithly (Secretary).

Tho meeting wae called chiefly to discuss the position in connection with the universal Saturday half-holiday. After considerable discussion, it was decided to close the picoent competitions, both ThurEday and Saturday, on ilny 31st, and that new competitions should start oe from June 7th. It was arranged to run Thursday competitions also, providing there were sufficient entries from the different Thursday clubs. Entries for all competitions to closo on May 24th.

The ,question sroso of the rental of the grounds by the various Thursday clubs, and it was agreed that lottora be written to tho City Council and tho Domain Board asking that any applications for a refund by the various should bo favourably received. Tho following 1 matters in reference to "Hockey Day," Juno 2nd, wcro discussed at length, and agreed to:—That the third and fourth grade five-a-eide tournaments ehou!d oommenco at 10 a.m. with tho representative matches, while other five-a-eide games should start at 2 p.m.; that all the games should be played at Sydenham Park; that nftprnoon tea be provided on tho grounds at a email charge; that tho colours should be—Thursday, white in each representative match; Saturday, first grade, btack (Addington Club colours); colt 3, chocolate (Selwyn street co.'ours); and second grade, blue and black (Sydenham colours).

It was a'so decided that all clubs who played unregistered players, or players in their wrong grades, bo written to asking for an explanation; a!eo, that all last Thursday's games should be counted as played, but that tho defaulting tcame shou'd not, -under the circumstances, be penalised.
