BREACHES OF BANKRUPTCY ACT.

Twelve charges of having committed breaches of the Bankruptcy Act were j made against Oliver Edward Farrow, lof Auckland, at the Supremo Court to- ; day. Individual charges set forth that Farrow contracted • certain debts when he had no reasonable prooaole cxpecta- j I tion of being able to pay for the goods ; I secured. In addition, Farrow was charged with obtaining property on ; credit by means of a false balance- j ' sheet from Winstone. Ltd., while the ' ; last count charged him with bringing : ■ about his bankruntcy by rash and : hazardous speculation. After evidence I had been taken, the jury, by direction ;of the iudae, brought in a verdict of 1 not guilty on the charges regarding a false balance-sheet and rash speculn- ■ tion. On t"*e ten charges regarding contracting debts when he had no reasonable prospect of being able to pay them, verdicts of guilty were returned. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on each count, the sentences to be concurrent.
