TRAMCAKS BURNT
(Received February 11th. U. 30 p.m.) TOKIO. February 11. Iho Mikado, in a rescript, has ordered Saionji to try and alleviate the situation in the direction of the abandonment oi censure on the Government. Two members of the late Cabinet favour compliance, but others are unwilling to compromise. A crowd surrounded the. Diet, and cheered the arrival of the 'Oppositionists, wearing white roses, and hooted the Ministerialists. Tho police repeated their charges, and fifteen were injured. A rescript has been issued, suspending the sitting for three days. A dense* crowd assembled, and the police wero unable to cope with it. so the military were summoned. Stone-throwing occurred, and a renewal of the nieleo followed. Rioters attacked the newspaper officers, .and the staff replied with revolvers. One rioter was killed The mob then looted the oilshops, soaked straw, and threw it on the newspaper offices, which were now guarded by the military, who charged with swortls. The mob .scattered in sections, and rioted further afield, burning tramcars, wrecking police .stations. An armed force protected Katsura's residence.
