THE REFORM CLUB
BARON DE FOREST BLACK-
BALLED
(Rcceiveu February Gth. 12.15 a.m.) LONDON, February 5.
The Reform Club blackballed Baron Do Forest, who was applying for membership. Prominent Radicals demand that the ballot bo rescinded, otherwise they will form a new club. Mr Lloyd Georgo and Mr Churchill liavo already resigned, and Sir Edward Grey and Mr Harcourt threaten to do so.
The Reform is one of tho best-known of the London clubs. It is the leading Liberal institution, and its members havo included many famous men. Baron do Forrest is a Liberal M P He is an hereditary Baron of the Austrian Empiro and permitted to use his title in England. An interesting point in connection with the black-balling of tho Baron is th« fact that lie is a member of tho Marlborough Club, which, owing to Royalty's connection with it, is said to be the most exclusive in the ivorld. His social position must therefore bo regarded as unimpeachable. Perhaps tho fact that he is reported to be a single-taxcr has something to do ivith tho incident.
