A DRAMATIC PLOT.
TIIE "OTHER WOMAN
(Received February sth, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 5.
Knight was highly strung and emotional. Ho was a preacher of tho revivalist typo, and raised tho congregation from a score to six hundred. Tho details of his flight were carefully planned from the time he dramatically disappeared over tho edgo of tho cliff in tho blazo of a flashlight, with which he pretended to take a photograph, until ho joined Fanny Grimes on board tho Ballarat. Knight's hair was cut unusually short the day beforo bo disappeared.
His marked attention to Miss Grimes caused the congregation to divido into two groups, ono defending tho vicar and tho other being full of misgivings. Gossip was silenced upon Miss Grimes quitting Leods in September for the South of England, and was renewed again in tho autumn during Knight's cix weeks' vacation.
Despite his wife's objections, thero was an impressive memorial service, at which the Bishop of tho diocese eulogised Knight. -
