MR AMON SMART.
The lato Mr Amon Smart, who died on January 26th at Templeton, was born at Moulton, Northamptonshire, on December Ist, 1831. He came out in the ship Randolph, which arrived in Lyttelton on December 16th, 1850, and settled at the Pioneers' Corner, which is now known as Hagley Park. Having been there for a while, he came on to Riccarton, and worked for the lato Air John Deans for two years. He then came on to Templeton with his mother and brothers and sisters. Deceased was a member of the first volunteer corps formed in Canterbury. After being in Templeton for a few years he was married to Miss Georgo Baker, of Melbourne, in the Prebbleton Church. After his marriage he removed to a farm about three miles above Templeton, and there resided until his death. His first wifo having died some nino years ago, he married Mrs Linklater, of Kaiapoi, who survives him.
