John Matheson -was charged that, on December otb, by falsely representing that he was a fireman on the steamer Kowhai. ho did obtain from tho Union Steam Ship Company the sum of 13s ftd for a railway ticket to Christchurch It was shown that acciised had K«ne to tho manager for tho company at Oamaru. and had fraudulently obtained his fare to Christehurch. He was convicted and fined £2, in default 14 days , imprisonment.
