. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. For drunkenness, William Skelly was fined £1, or seven days. John Johnson and Michael Smith were each fined 10s, or 48 hours. Two first offenders ! regained their liberty at the cost of ss, and Daniol Bourko was remanded "to get the drink out of his system." , GIVEN A CHANCE. i "Wherever you see a drunk you will find .tin's man," declared Sergeant Jackson, in testifying • that Daniel Heslip was an idle and disorderly person. A constable, who has known the accused for 18 months, said that during that time Heslip hnd done littlo or no work, and during the last month he had consorted with women of illfame and thieves. Tho Magistrate said he would give the accused a chance to go to the country, but he warned Hes-. lip that if he was in town after to-day he would bo brought up again and sent to gaol for three months. 1 ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Kenneth Calders, a well-dresseil young man, was charged with obtaining board to tho value of £5 by means of fa'so pretences. Mr A. T. Donnelly appeared for the accused. The edse was remanded for a week, bail being allowed. MAINTENANCE. Thomas Henry Mingo. was ordered to pay 15s a week towards the maintenance of his wife. UNDEFENDED CASES.
